BRIGADIER GENERAL JOHN M. NAUSEEF

Brigadier General John M. Nauseef is deputy chief of staff, financial management and comptroller, Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

General Nauseef was born in 1941, in Cortland, N.Y., and graduated from McGraw (N.Y.) Central High School. He earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Rochester in 1963 and a master of science degree in acquisitions logistics management as a distinguished graduate of the Air Force Institute of Technology in 1979. He completed the Professional Military Comptrollers School in 1974 and was a distinguished graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in 1984.

The general was commissioned as a second lieutenant through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program. Upon entering active duty in July 1963, he was assigned to the Electronic Systems, Division, Laurence G. Hanscom Field, Mass., as deputy accounting and finance officer. After graduating from the accounting and finance officer course, Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, in July 1965, he was assigned to the 7101st Air Base Wing, Wiesbaden Air Base, West Germany, as chief of pay and travel. In August 1968 he was assigned as chief, Military Pay Branch, Headquarters Command, Bolling Air Force Base, D.C. He then served as an accounting and finance officer with the 377th Combat Support Group, Tan Son Nhut Air Base, South Vietnam.

From August 1972 to August 1978 General Nauseef was assigned to Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C., where he served consecutively as budget analyst, Operating Appropriations Division; assistant executive officer, and then executive officer, to the Air Force budget director. In October 1979 he was assigned to the Aeronautical Equipment Deputate, Aeronautical Systems Division, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, as director of program control. In April 1982 the general became executive officer to the commander there. After completing the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in June 1984, he returned to ASD as director of program control for the F-16 Program Office.

In July 1986 General Nauseef was assigned to the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Comptroller, Headquarters Air Force Systems Command, Andrews Air Force Base, Md. He then served successively as director of programs and budget, deputy to the deputy chief of staff, comptroller, and deputy chief of staff, financial management and comptroller. He assumed his current position in July 1992.

The general's military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, and Air Force Commendation Medal.

He was promoted to brigadier general Oct. 1, 1989, with same date of rank.
