BRIGADIER GENERAL JAMES O. LINDBERG

Brigadier General James O. Lindberg is director of procurement policy, Deputy Chief of Staff Systems and Logistics, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.

Born in Pasadena, Calif., in 1918, General Lindberg attended the University of Southern California. After graduation, he entered the aviation cadet program and received his pilot wings and commission as a second lieutenant in March 1942. He then served in operational flying training assignments at Luke Field, Ariz., Victorville, Calif., and Williams Field, Ariz., and in March 1949 was assigned as Air Force Civil Air Patrol Liaison Officer for the State of Colorado. He entered the University of Pittsburgh in September 1951 and received his master's degree in letters in July 1952.

General Lindberg has held many and varied logistics assignments during the past 15 years, including tours in the Aircraft Branch, Procurement Division, Headquarters Air Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio; and in the Directorate of Procurement Inspection, Office of The Inspector General, U.S. Air Force. He also served as deputy director of depot maintenance, Headquarters Oklahoma City Air Materiel Area; director of materiel management, Headquarters Air Materiel Force, European Area, Chateauroux, France; chief, Air Force Logistics Command Logistics Office, Wiesbaden, Germany; director of materiel management, Sacramento Air Materiel Area; and more recently, deputy chief, Army and Air Force Exchange Service, New York, N.Y. He assumed duties as director of procurement policy, Deputy Chief of Staff, Logistics in July 1967.

His military decorations include the Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, Joint Services Commendation Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal. He is a command pilot.
