BRIGADIER GENERAL ALBERT C. GUIDOTTI

Brigadier General Albert C. Guidotti is vice commander of 21st Air Force, McGuire Air Force Base, N.J.

General Guidotti was born in 1934, in Oakland, Calif., where he graduated from Castlemont High School in 1952. He earned a bachelor's degree from Oregon State University in 1956 and received his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program. The general is a graduate of Squadron Officer School and Air War College, both at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala.

After completing pilot training at McAllen and Laredo Air Force bases, Texas, he received his wings in February 1958 He then went to Dobbins Air Force Base, Ga., for two years as a ground control intercept controller. In January 1960 he served as a ground control intercept controller and chief of training at Villatobas Air Base, Spain.

Upon his return to the United States in 1963, he served as a C-135 flight examiner and flight simulator chief, and as a C-141 flight examiner at McGuire Air Force Base. In April 1969 he began an overseas tour of duty as chief controller of the Rescue Coordination Center for Southeast Asia at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Republic of Vietnam.

From April 1970 until July 1972, General Guidotti was a VC-135 instructor pilot and chief of current operations for the 89th Military Airlift Wing at Andrews Air Force Base, Md. Following graduation from the Air War College in May 1973, he served at Military Airlift Command headquarters, Scott Air Force Base, Ill., as chief of the Services and Independent Wings Management Division.

In July 1974 the general returned to Andrews Air Force Base as commander of the 98th Military Airlift Squadron. He subsequently served on the 89th Military Airlift Wing staff as assistant deputy commander for operations and later as deputy commander for operations.

He was named deputy commander for operations of the 437th Military Airlift Wing, Charleston Air Force Base, S.C., in September 1977, and became commander of the 436th Military Airlift Wing at Dover Air Force Base, Del., in February 1980.

In February 1982 he was named commander of the 76th Airlift Division, Military Airlift Command, Andrews Air Force Base. His command included the 89th Military Airlift Wing, 1776th Air Base Wing and Malcolm Grow USAF Medical Center at Andrews; and the 1100th Air Base Wing, the U.S. Air Force Band and the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard at Bolling Air Base, D.C. During this assignment he also served as the Air Force representative in the military district of Washington. He assumed his present position in August 1984.

General Guidotti is a command pilot with more than 6,700 flying hours in a variety of aircraft. His military decorations and awards include the Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster, Bronze Star Medal and Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster.

He was promoted to brigadier general Aug. 1, 1982, with same date of rank.
