BRIGADIER GENERAL GORDON A. GINSBURG Brigadier General Gordon A. Ginsburg is staff judge advocate, Air Force Systems Command, Andrews Air Force Base, Md. General Ginsburg was born in 1932, in Steubenville, Ohio. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1954 and a law degree in 1956, both from Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio, and a master's degree in business administration from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C., in 1965. General Ginsburg is a graduate of the Air Command and Staff College, a distinguished graduate of the Air War College, and has completed various other military education and professional courses. He was commissioned in November 1956 and shortly thereafter entered active duty as a judge advocate at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyo. From July 1959 to July 1962, he served as an assistant staff judge advocate at Royal Air Force Station Alconbury, England and then was assigned to Kincheloe Air Force Base, Mich., as staff judge advocate, until entering the Air Command and Staff College in July 1964. Following graduation, he served as deputy staff judge advocate, Aerospace Medical Division, Brooks Air Force Base, Texas, until January 1969 when he became chief of civil law and military affairs, Military Assistance Command Vietnam. After completing this tour of duty in January 1970, he was assigned to the Special Activities Group, Office of the Judge Advocate General, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C. In March 1971, General Ginsburg was named deputy legal adviser and legislative assistant to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He entered the Air War College in August 1973 and after graduation, became staff judge advocate, Sacramento Air Logistics Center, McClellan Air Force Base, Calif. From June 1977 to June 1979, he was the general counsel, Army and Air Force Exchange Service, Dallas, Texas. Thereafter, he served as deputy staff judge advocate and then staff judge advocate, Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, before assuming his present duties on April 1, 1981. General Ginsburg's military decorations and awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal and various service medals. Additionally, he received the Albert M. Kuhfeld Award as the outstanding young judge advocate of 1966 and, while at the Air War College, won the Air Force Historical Foundation Award competition for the most significant historical study of 1974. He was promoted to brigadier general Jan. 22, 1981, with date of rank Jan. 21, 1981. (Current as of May 1984)
