BRIGADIER GENERAL DENNIS D. DONEEN

Brigadier General Dennis D. Doneen is deputy chief of staff for product assurance and acquisition logistics, Headquarters Air Force Systems Command, Andrews Air Force Base, Md.

General Doneen was born in Spokane, Wash., in 1941, and graduated from Oakesdale (Wash.) High School in 1959. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science from Washington State University in 1963 and a master of science degree in systems management from the University of Southern California in 1975. He completed Squadron Officer School in 1967, Air Command and Staff College as a distinguished graduate in 1977, and Naval War College in 1982.

The general received his commission through Officer Training School, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, in December 1963 and was assigned as a supply officer with the 804th Supply Squadron, Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D. In July 1968 he was assigned as a base supply item accounting officer, 348th Combat Support Group, Itazuke Air Base, Japan. From September 1969 to September 1971 the general served as chief for the Supply Systems Management Division, Headquarters 5th Air Force, Fuchu Air Station, Japan. He then became chief of the Supply Management Division, Headquarters 7th Air Force, Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Republic of Vietnam.

In September 1972 he was assigned to Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, as chief of the Supply Plans Branch. He later served as executive officer to the deputy chief of staff for logistics. After graduating from Air Command and Staff College in June 1977, the general served as supply management staff officer to the deputy chief of staff for logistics, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C., until August 1981.

General Doneen graduated from Naval War College, Newport, R.I., in July 1982 and was assigned as a logistics system and program analyst, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Washington, D.C. He transferred to Headquarters Air Force Logistics Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, and served as director for plans from March 1984 until September 1985, when he became assistant deputy chief of staff for plans and programs. In June 1986 the general became deputy director for logistics plans and programs, Air Force headquarters. He assumed his present position in July 1988.

His military decorations and awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and Air Force Commendation Medal.

He was promoted to brigadier general May 1, 1988, with same date of rank.
