BRIGADIER GENERAL MICHAEL B. NEWTON

Brig. Gen. Michael B. Newton is the mobilization assistant to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Contracting, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C. He exercises functional responsibility for all approximately 600 contracting personnel in the Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard.

General Newton was born in Biloxi, Miss. He entered military service with the Army as a graduate of Army ROTC from Indiana University in 1974. He completed an interservice transfer to the Air Force in November 1983. He has served in a variety of acquisition positions for the Air Force and is a graduate of the Copper Cap management intern program. His assignments include senior individual mobilization assistant to the Director of Contracting, Ogden Air Logistics Center, Hill Air Force Base, Utah, and mobilization assistant to the ALC's Commander. General Newton was selected as the Outstanding Reservist in Contracting for the Air Force in fiscal year 1995. 

In his civilian occupation, General Newton is the Director of Contracting at Tooele Army Depot, Utah.
