MAJOR GENERAL JOHN D. DORRIS

Maj. Gen. John D. Dorris is the mobilization assistant to the Commander, U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb. As a member of the joint U.S. Strategic Command staff, he is responsible for advising the commander on the planning, coordination and employment of Reserve component resources.

General Dorris began his career in 1968 upon receiving his commission through Officer Training School. His first operational assignment was at Nakon Phanom Royal Thai AFB where he served as a C-123 pilot for the 606th Special Operations Squadron. After completing that tour he returned to the United States and began flying the C-141 for the 30th Military Airlift Squadron, McGuire AFB, N.J. He transferred to the Air Force Reserve in 1973, serving in a variety of key positions.

General Dorris is a command pilot with more than 6,300 hours in the T-41, T-37, T-38, C-123, C-141, C-17, C-130 and AN-32 aircraft.
