BRIGADIER GENERAL PATRICE A. MELANCON

Brig. Gen. Patrice A. Melançon is the Mobilization Assistant to the Director of Logistics, Engineering and Force Protection, Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. She supports the director in organizing, training and equipping the command's in-garrison and expeditionary Agile Combat Support, which supports more than 70,000 Airmen and consists of more than 350 aircraft, assigned to three numbered air forces, 33 wings, three flying groups and one space wing. The command has assets at nine primary and 61 tenant locations with a $6.4 billion average plant replacement value and a $220 million annual operating budget. Air Force Reserve Command supports the Air Force mission to defend the United States through control and exploitation of Air, Space and Cyberspace by supporting global engagement.

General Melançon was commissioned through the ROTC program at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Lafayette in 1988, graduating with honors and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. She spent nine years on active duty prior to entering the Air Force Reserve in 1997. She has been a commander twice, has experience at base-level, major command, combatant command, field operating agency and Air Staff levels, and has been activated for three extended active duty tours since Sept. 11, 2001. She has served stateside, as well as in Europe and Southwest Asia, and has experience in both peacetime and wartime contingency operations.

In her civilian career, General Melançon served as a Senior Project Manager and Engineer with CDM Smith for 15 years, overseeing projects for various federal clients and programs including the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Army, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the Environmental Security Technology Certification Program. She has experience as a project engineer and then project and program manager for water, wastewater and stormwater projects for municipal clients, as well as federal entities. She current serves as the Watershed Engineering Department Manager for the San Antonio River Authority where she leads a team of 27 to protect and enhance the creeks and rivers of the San Antonio River basin.
