Major General JOHN N. TREE

Maj. Gen. John Tree is the Special Assistant to the Deputy to the Chief of the Air Force Reserve at the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. Prior to this assignment he was the Mobilization Assistant to the Air Force Chief of Staff at the Pentagon. He assisted the chief with the organization, training and equipping of 685,000 active-duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian forces serving in the United States and overseas.

He previously served as the Mobilization Assistant to the Director for Logistics, Engineering and Security Cooperation (J4), Headquarters, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii, where he assisted the director with the planning, coordination, and integration of strategic logistics, engineering and security cooperation in support of U.S. National Defense Strategy in order to build U.S. and partner capacities to accomplish the command’s mission across the Asia-Pacific theater.

Maj. Gen. Tree joined the Air Force in 1990 following his graduation from the U.S. Air Force Academy and served on active duty for seven years in the transportation and logistics career fields. He joined the Air Force Reserve in 1997 and became fully qualified in the acquisition career field. He has held positions as a traditional Reservist, a squadron commander, an Air Force Academy liaison officer and as an individual mobilization augmentee in many different positions including the Air Staff as well as at the Maintenance Complex at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma.

In his civilian professional career, Maj. Gen. Tree has held key senior leader positions, including chief executive officer and president, in a diverse array of high impact and dynamic companies across retail packaged goods and logistics/supply chain. He and his wife presently own and operate a large packaging solutions company in Southern California. He also serves as a board member on the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, or AAFES, Board of Directors, serving on the Finance Committee.
