Brigadier General CHARLES E. BROWN JR.

Brig. Gen. Charles E. Brown Jr. serves as the Chief of Staff, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. AMC’s mission is to provide rapid, global mobility and sustainment for America's armed forces. The command also plays a crucial role in providing humanitarian support at home and around the world. The men and women of AMC, consisting of active duty, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve and civilians, provide airlift, aerial refueling, special air mission, aeromedical evacuation and mobility support. As the air component for the U.S. Transportation Command, AMC directs global air mobility operations in support of national objectives.

Brig. Gen. Brown graduated from Florida State University in 1994 with a degree in Criminal Justice and earned his commission through the Air Force ROTC. Brig. Gen. Brown is a seasoned aviator with more than 300 combat hours and 160 combat sorties. He has participated in the U.S. Global War on Terrorism in operations Noble Eagle, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. His career has encompassed a wide variety of assignments from Command Control Officer, C-130H Navigator, F-15E Strike Eagle Pilot, C-130E Instructor Pilot and Assistant Executive Officer to the Commander, Air Mobility Command. In addition, Brig. Gen. Brown was a National Security Fellow at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University; Commander of the 62nd Airlift Squadron, Little Rock AFB, Arkansas; Vice Commander, 374th Airlift Wing, Yokota Air Base, Japan; and Commander of the 19th Airlift Wing, Little Rock AFB, Arkansas.

Prior to his current assignment, the general was the Senior Defense Official and Defense Attaché, U.S. Embassy, Tel Aviv, Israel.
