LIEUTENANT GENERAL MARC C. REYNOLDS

Lieutenant General Marc C. Reynolds is vice commander, Air Force Logistics Command, with headquarters at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. The command mission is to provide worldwide technical logistics support to all Air Force active and reserve force activities, military assistance program countries and designated U.S. government agencies.

General Reynolds was born in 1928, in Chamberlain, S.D., and graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1946. The general is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Kingston; Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala.; and the Naval War College, Newport, R.I.

He entered the U.S. Air Force as an aviation cadet in January 1951 at Perrin Air Force Base, Texas, and commissioned upon graduation from pilot training at Vance Air Force Base, Okla., in February 1952. He then attended jet interceptor training at Moody Air Force Base, Ga., and Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla.

In July 1952 General Reynolds was assigned as a pilot with the 83rd Fighter-Interceptor Squadron at Hamilton Air Force Base, Calif., and later moved with the squadron to Paine Air Force Base, Wash. In April 1953 he transferred to the 4th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron at Naha Air Base, Okinawa, where he continued to serve as a fighter-interceptor pilot, flying F-94B's.

His next assignment, in September 1954, was to Otis Air Force Base, Mass., with the 437th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron as tactical flight commander, flying F-94C's and F-101B's, and later with the 602nd Consolidated Maintenance Squadron at Otis as a maintenance officer.

When General Reynolds transferred to Europe in November 1961, he was assigned to the 19th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, Royal Air Force Station Bruntingthorpe, England, as a flight commander, and later served as chief of the Standardization and Evaluation Branch when the squadron moved to Toul-Rosieres Air Base, France. After completing Air Command and Staff College in September 1966, General Reynolds was assigned to the 22nd Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho. In December 1966 he moved to the 460th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Republic of Vietnam, and flew 230 combat missions over North Vietnam and the Republic of Vietnam in RF-4C's.

Following his Southeast Asia tour of duty, he served in Japan as deputy chief of the Reconnaissance Division, Headquarters 5th Air Force, Fuchu Air Station. In April 1970 he moved to Misawa Air Base as commander of the 16th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron.

Upon his return to the United States in February 1971, he was assigned to Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., where he served as assistant deputy commander for operations in the 363rd Tactical Reconnaissance Wing. He graduated from the Naval War College in August 1973 and was subsequently assigned to Ogden Air Logistics Center, Hill Air Force Base, Utah, initially as the director of distribution and later as director of maintenance.

In July 1976 he transferred to McClellan Air Force Base, Calif., as director of materiel management, Sacramento Air Logistics Center. In March 1978 he became the center's vice commander. General Reynolds moved to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in May 1980 as vice commander of the Air Force Acquisition Logistics Division and took command of the division in October 1981. In July 1983 he was appointed commander of Ogden Air Logistics Center. He assumed his present position in September 1984.

The general is a command pilot with more than 5,200 flying hours, including 475 combat hours. His military decorations and awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Air Medal with 15 oak leaf clusters and Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters.

He was promoted to lieutenant general Nov. 1, 1984, with same date of rank.
