TRICARE Announces Emergency Prescription Refills for Beneficiaries in Puerto Rico Impacted by Hurricane Irma

The Defense Health Agency today announced TRICARE beneficiaries in Puerto Rico may receive emergency prescription refills. The governor of Puerto Rico has declared a State of Emergency for all counties due to Hurricane Irma.

TRICARE is the military’s health benefit, which covers about 9.4 million active-duty and reserve-component service members, military retirees and their families.

To ensure beneficiaries in Puerto Rico don’t miss out on important health benefits, TRICARE has made it easier for beneficiaries to receive prescription medications.

To obtain an emergency refill of prescription medications, beneficiaries should take their prescription bottle to any TRICARE retail network pharmacy.

To find a network pharmacy:

Call Express Scripts at 1-877-363-1303
Search the network pharmacy location at www.express-scripts.com/TRICARE/pharmacy

If possible, visit the pharmacy where the prescription was filled. For a retail chain, one can fill the prescription at another store in that chain. If a provider is available, he or she may call in a new prescription to any network pharmacy. Assistance can be requested at another pharmacy, but it's at that pharmacy's discretion to help.

We are continuing to monitor the situation as it develops and we will update this page (www.tricare.mil/Irma) as more information becomes available.

Emergency refill procedures are in place from September 5, 2017 through Sept. 15, 2017.
