The global war on terror, the state of readiness for Airmen, and the Air Force inventory are the three main priorities for the Air Force, said the service's top two leaders here Feb. 2.

At the Air Force Association Air Warfare Symposium here today, Michael W. Wynne, Air Force secretary, and Gen. T. Michael Moseley, chief of staff, shared issues that were discussed earlier this week at Corona, the semi-annual senior leader conference, held at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala.

"We talked about our operations, our war fighting, our growth as an interdependent force," General Moseley said at the AFA symposium. "We looked at joint and coalition fighting in this global war on terror and if we're doing so in an efficient manner."

Speaking with other Air Force generals helped them focus on the needs of today's Airmen, he said.

"Our first priority is the global war on terror," he said.  "Our next priority is our folks. We want them to be better prepared, better equipped and better educated to be a more robust presence."

Secretary Wynne echoed General Moseley's words.

"People need to realize how innovative and creative our Airmen can be," he said. "I am so proud of their education level, and the way they strive to do their jobs. They are very patriotic in a very sacrificing way, but they find (the military) life invigorating. They are defending the country as a noble passion."

Another key topic discussed at Corona was recapitalization, and the Air Force's efforts to streamline its warfighting processes.

"We have to move toward the future in a way that is balanced," General Moseley said. "The things that came out of Corona affect everything from basic military training, professional military education, uniforms, etc. These are the things we are focusing on -- our warfighting skills and taking care of our Airmen."
