Roche, Jumper to speak at academy graduation

Air Force officials announced April 23 that Dr. James Roche, secretary of the Air Force, and Gen. John Jumper, Air Force chief of staff, will speak at this year's Air Force Academy grauation.

"Both personally are very much involved in the Air Force Academy and Air Force military education, and they've decided to appear together," said Mr. William Bodie, Air Force director of communication.

This is the fourth time in academy history that the school has had two guest speakers for graduation. The secretary of the Air Force and Air Force chief of staff were the guest speakers for the graduations of the classes of 1968 and 1972, and the vice president and Air Force chief of staff were the guest speakers for the class of 1971.

According to Bodie, the Air Force's two top leaders will deliver a "forward-looking speech about their vision for the academy, obviously the implementation of the agenda for change and talk about the new leadership at the academy and the academy moving forward into a new era."

Graduation for the almost 1,000 cadets is scheduled for May 28.
