AF activates accountability system in response to Philippine crisis

The Air Force has activated the Air Force Personnel Accountability and Assessment System to monitor the status and location of all personnel and dependents who may be affected by the category 5 typhoon Haiyan, which hit the Philippines Nov. 8, Air Force Personnel Center officials said Nov. 13.

The activation is a local event for total force Airmen who are in the affected area or who have dependent family members in the affected area. Affected Airmen are required to log in to the AFPAAS system at https://afpaas.af.mil and account for themselves and their family members. While in the AFPAAS system, members should complete a short needs assessment survey to inform officials if they need assistance.

Affected personnel who do not have access to a computer or smart phone should contact their unit control center. Those who cannot reach their UCC should call the AFPC readiness cell at 800-435-9941 or DSN 665-2020.

AFPAAS allows commanders and units to account, assess, manage and monitor the recovery and reconstitution process for personnel and their families affected and/or scattered by a wide-spread catastrophic event. AFPAAS provides accountability at all levels of the Air Force chain of command, enhancing a commanders' ability to make strategic decisions.
