The Air Force's top senior enlisted Airman released the latest installment of Roll Call, encouraging Airmen to think about, “why they serve.”

“It is a privilege to be an Airman, and an honor to defend our nation,” said Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force James A. Cody. “We can never forget that.”

All Airmen joined the ranks for a reason, be it schooling, family or financial stability; there are no bad reasons for joining the world greatest Air Force.

The Roll Call discusses honoring those reasons, and then evolving them towards an understanding that service is about more than direction, pay or education. It is about protecting American ideals, and embracing the responsibility that comes with freedom.

“When you raise your right hand, remember what it stands for; remember the men and women who have taken the solemn oath before you; and remember that service is a calling with intangible rewards: pride, service, and duty…these will always be priceless,” Cody said.
