Personal Profile:

Retired SSgt Steven Malits enlisted into the Air Force in December 2005 as a Pavements and Heavy Equipment Engineer. During his second deployment to Afghanistan, SSgt Malits was part of the 1st Expeditionary Red Horse Group Combat Logistics Patrol Team. While on a convoy heading to FOB Leatherneck, his truck drove over a pressure plate improvised explosive device. He was medevac’d to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC. SSgt Malits was in rehabilitation for 1 year with the help of both his parents and two sisters.
