Dignified Transfer

Brig. Gen. Kenneth Roberts (from left), special assistant for the director of the Army National Guard; Gen. Carrol H. "Howie" Chandler, vice chief of staff of the Air Force; and Col. Manson Morris, 436th Airlift Wing commander, salute during the dignified transfer of two fallen servicemembers of Operation Enduring Freedom March 12, 2010, on the flight line at Dover Air Force Base, Del. Prior to the dignified transfer, General Chandler and his wife, Eva-Marie, visited with the families of the fallen at the Center for the Families of the Fallen. The center was opened in January and dedicated to the care, service and support of families of the fallen, regardless of Service, while at Dover. Additionally, the center staff supports surviving Air Force family members around the world in any way needed, for as long as needed. The general's visit occurred during the Year of the Air Force Family, a year designated by the secretary of the Air Force and chief of staff of the Air Force, highlighting programs that take care of Airmen and their families.
