Simulation center provides edge to medics

John Mechtel sets up a replicated burn victim's airway in one of the simulation center's scenario rooms at Wilford Hall Medical Center Feb. 9 at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. The center has trained more than 1,400 people since July 2005 and has the capability to train complex medical concepts using virtual reality simulators, task trainers and high-fidelity mannequins that respond correctly to procedures and therapies rendered by medics. Mr. Mechtel is the 59th Medical Wing Simulation Center program manager. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Ruth Stanley)
