FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Master Sgt. Stacy Maier dumps a box of "bird balls" into a drainage ditch along the flightline here. Fairchild is the first Air Force base to use this newest form of protection against bird strikes. Maier is with the 92nd Air Refueling Wing's flight safety office.
