435th AGOW improves airspace, builds partnerships

Slovenian air force Capt. Gregor Virant (left) develops airspace procedures which allow aircraft to land during inclement weather with help from Chief Master Sgt. Luis Martinez and Senior Master Sgt. Bobby Hickman Jan. 13, 2015, at Cerklje Air Base, Slovenia. The five-day mission supported U. S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa’s efforts to assist the Slovenian air force in developing control measures for takeoff and landing procedures during instrument flight rules conditions, giving the base the capability to conduct flights is inclement weather conditions. Virant is the 15th Wing chief of air operations. Martinez is the USAFE - AFAFRICA operations superintendent for command and control. Hickman is the 31st Operational Support Squadron chief controller.
