While on a routine exercise, the aircrew of a B-52H Stratofortress from Minot Air Force Base, call sign HAIL 13, and their Barksdale Air Force Base wingman, call sign HAIL 14, received a call for help a disoriented pilot Nov. 13, 2013, from the Anchorage Air Traffic Control Center, Alaska. The pilot of a small Cessna plane had become disoriented after flying into bad weather and was flying too low to maintain proper communications with air traffic control.
