Brig. Gen. David J. Buck is Director of Air, Space and Cyberspace Operations, Air Force Space Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. The Directorate is responsible for organizing, training and equipping Air Force Space Command units for space and cyberspace operations and integrating these capabilities into the operational level of war. Mission areas include space control, satellite command and control, spacelift and range operations, missile warning, network operations, network defense and cyber warfare. The Directorate executes an annual operations and maintenance budget of $1 billion.

General Buck received his commission in 1986 as a distinguished graduate of Officer Training School. His career spans a wide variety of command, operations, test and evaluation, and staff assignments. He has commanded at the squadron, group and wing levels. His operational experience includes missile operations, space launch and range operations, satellite command and control, space force enhancement, and space control. General Buck served on The Joint Staff as principal military advisor to The Chairman of The Joint Chiefs of Staff for Coalition Management. He also served as the Deputy Director for Plans and Programs, Headquarters Air Force Space Command where he formulated the Command's Program Objective Memorandum. In 2010, he served a one-year deployment as the Director of Space Forces for U.S. Air Forces Central, Southwest Asia. Prior to assuming his current position, General Buck was the Vice Commander, United States Air Force Warfare Center, where he was responsible for shaping the way our forces fight through operational test, tactics development and advanced training in air, space and cyberspace.
