Mr. James J. Kren is Executive Director, Battlefield Information Collections Exploitations Systems Agency, Intelligence Systems Support Office, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, Brussels, Belgium.
Mr. Kren began his career with the Defense Mapping Agency where he held a variety of positions including systems engineer, physical scientist, cartographer and geographer. He later served as a staff officer for the National Imagery and Mapping Agency as the liaison to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Space. While at NIMA, he was also a staff officer for the Systems and Technology Directorate, supporting the Tasking, Processing, Exploitation and Dissemination Assessment Process from October 1998 to January 2000. Mr. Kren led the U.S. Imagery and Geospatial Information Service Operational Requirements Document development for NIMA.
Mr. Kren previously served as senior adviser for Strategies and Plans to the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Warfighting Support. During this time, he led the Department of Defense Remodeling Defense Intelligence initiative and establishment of Joint Intelligence Operations Centers at the combatant commands and the Defense Intelligence Agency. He was also Deputy Director for the Cross Program Evaluation Directorate, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for C3I, supporting the assessment and evaluation of net-centric programs of the Defense Department and the intelligence community. He was a team lead for the Assistant Secretary of Defense's Success Factors Initiative. Prior to his current assignment, he was Director, International Intelligence Outreach, Intelligence Systems Support Office at Headquarters NATO, Brussels. Mr. Kren previously served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve.
