552nd Air Control Wing 552nd Air Control Wing

The 552nd Air Control Wing mission and the E-3 Sentry provides an eye in the sky for America's defense.  The unit has a more than 50-year past as its lineage traces back to the 552nd Early Warning and Control Wing established in 1956.

Wing aircrews have been on continuous deployment for almost 29 years because of the capabilities of the E-3. The 552nd supports operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom, and was one of the first units tasked by the North American Aerospace Defense Command to protect the airspace over North America after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The mission continues to grow and change.  Aircraft and personnel deploy to South America to support civil law enforcement agents in stopping the flow of illegal drugs from there into the United States and Canada.
