Video clarifies officer promotion board procedures

9/24/2009 - RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFNS) -- Personnel officials here will release an online video in early October offering Air Force officers a comprehensive look at the complete promotion selection board process.
The officer promotion selection board video provides a look into how a selection board is conducted, from the date the board convenes to its adjournment, said Capt. Ryan Stebbins, a recorder for the Air Force Selection Board Secretariat.
"The video will help demystify the board process and help Air Force officers understand how a promotion board is conducted," Captain Stebbins said.
As a recorder, he's responsible to the secretary of the Air Force for helping to execute promotion boards and ensuring the board process adheres to all applicable laws, policies and guidance.
The video includes information on board member demographics, the Air Force secretary's memorandum of instructions, board member responsibilities and overall board processes and procedures. The video, to be posted on the Air Force Personnel Center's Ask Web site, is an update to a 2001 version.
Col. Barbara Watkins, Air Force Selection Board Secretariat chief, said this video will help Airmen better understand the board process so when their record meets the board they will know they are receiving fair and equitable consideration for promotion.
