As a former Devil Raider I too am very happy and proud that the 621st is deployed there.

LAPES was done away with a long time ago. I'd check your sources. And C-130's can't take all the weight and gas up to max weight -- they are not very effective, hence why they are using the C-17

Take it up a notch. A C-17 could drop 2 or 3 C-130 loads in one shot. We have the capability. Maybe TV is just not reporting it.

TV tells us they can't help the millions outside the capitol. Why can't the Air Guard use C-130 LAPES (low-altitude parachute extraction system) to suplly pallets of supplies? TV says they can't get supplies to the out laying areas in Hatti. What about the many small airfields? Local Houston pilots with small cargo planes are flying supplies for our local charities in to these small fields. One C-130 from Eglin AFB or Florida ANG could LAPES more supplies in one trip than all our small planes can in a day. Someone must have thought of this - Why aren't we all doing this NOW?
