11/17/2010 - RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFNS) -- Air Force officials announced Nov. 17 their selection of 73 lieutenant colonels, 179 majors and 331 captains in health profession fields for promotion.

The 2010A Colonel, Lieutenant Colonel and Major Medical Corps and Dental Corps and 2010B Colonel Medical Service Corps central selection boards considered 590 lieutenant colonels, 546 majors and 342 captains for promotion.

The results of the boards are as follows:

Selection statistics in-the-promotion zone for colonel:
Dental Corps -- 9 selected from 17 considered, for a 52.9 percent select rate
Medical Corps -- 36 selected from 69 considered, for a 52.2 percent select rate
Medical Service Corps -- 10 selected from 20 considered, for a 50 percent select rate

Selection statistics above-the-promotion zone for colonel:
DC -- 2 selected from 37 considered, for a 5.4 percent select rate
MC -- 11 selected from 106 considered, for a 10.4 percent select rate
MSC -- 1 selected from 23 considered, for a 4.3 percent select rate

Selection statistics below-the-promotion zone for colonel:
DC -- 1 selected from 67 considered, for a 1.5 percent select rate
MC -- 2 selected from 204 considered, for a 1 percent select rate
MSC -- 1 selected from 47 considered, for a 2.1 percent select rate

Selection statistics in-the-promotion zone for lieutenant colonel:
DC -- 24 selected from 24 considered, for a 100 percent select rate
MC -- 146 selected from 147considered, for a 99.3 percent select rate

Selection statistics above-the-promotion zone for lieutenant colonel:
MC -- 1 selected from 2 considered, for a 50 percent select rate

Selection statistics below-the-promotion zone for lieutenant colonel:
DC -- 1 selected from 51 considered, for a 2 percent select rate
MC -- 7 selected from 322 considered, for a 2.2 percent select rate

Selection statistics in-the-promotion zone for major:
DC -- 44 selected from 45 considered, for a 97.8 percent select rate
MC -- 287 selected from 292 considered, for a 98.3 percent select rate

Selection statistics above-the-promotion zone for major:
DC -- 0 selected from 1 considered
MC -- 0 selected from 4 considered

The list of those selected for promotion will be available on the Air Force Personnel Center's website at www.afpc.randolph.af.mil Nov. 18 at 12 p.m. CST.
