Scott AFB supports bases evacuating from Hurricane Irene

8/27/2011 - SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. (AFNS) -- More than 20 aircraft from various East Coast locations began arriving here Aug. 25 as part of Hurricane Irene evacuation efforts.

So far, Scott Air Force Base has received:

-- Eight F-15C Eagles and 26 support personnel from the 125th Fighter Wing from the Jacksonville Air National Guard in Florida

-- Four FA-18 Hornets from Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic out of at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, Va.

-- Two C-40s and two C-38s from the 201st Airlift Squadron out of Andrews AFB, Md.

-- Five C-21s from the 457th Airlift Squadron out of Andrews AFB, Md.

Scott AFB is also poised with medical personnel and aircrew members flying C-21 aircraft who are ready to respond in support of the hurricane's aftermath if needed.
