5/8/2012 - JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO - RANDOLPH, Texas -- The weather career field development team and 2013 weather squadron command selection board will convene in July to select officers for the squadron command candidate list, and to vector weather officers for developmental opportunities, Air Force Personnel Center officials said.

Candidates will be matched to projected 2013 command vacancies, as well as recruiting and training squadron command positions, said Maj. Joseph Coughlin, AFPC weather assignments chief. The development team will also select intermediate and senior developmental education nominees for the Air Force Developmental Education Designation Board.

Eligible officers include lieutenant colonels, lieutenant colonel-selects and majors who are in the promotion zone for lieutenant colonel in 2012.

Officers on the command candidate list are considered volunteers for worldwide command opportunities, Coughlin said.

Nominations are due to AFPC by June 15, said Coughlin, who advises nominating officials to carefully consider candidates leadership abilities and other character traits.

"Nominees should possess exceptional leadership skills, set the example through unquestioned integrity and professional competence, be able to motivate others, exhibit genuine concern and interest in subordinates, show excellent mentoring skills, and display strong initiative," Coughlin explained.
