SOUTHWEST ASIA -- A final memorial tribute to Airman 1st Class Elizabeth Jacobson sits at the base chapel Oct 6. The helmet and identification tags represent the fallen servicemember, the combat boots signify the final march of the last battle and the inverted rifle with a bayonet symbolize a time for prayer and a break in the action to pay tribute to a fallen comrade. BALAD AIR BASE, Iraq -- Airmen applaud and cheer, thanking injured Soldiers and Marines for their service in the war on terrorism as they are brought aboard the last C-141 Starlifter aeromedical evacuation flight from a combat zone Sept. 29. The aircraft, assigned to Air Force Reserve Command's 445th Airlift Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, transported the injured servicemembers to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, for treatment.
