Reagan signs bill
WASHINGTON (AFPN) -- Then-President Ronald Reagan signs the bill commemorating Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday as a national holiday on Nov. 2, 1983 in the White House rose garden. The first observation was Jan. 20, 1986. This year's observance will mark the 77th birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the twentieth anniversary of the national holiday in his honor. Tuskegee Airmen
WASHINGTON -- Retired Lt. Col. Howard Baugh is one the Tuskegee Airmen that visited the Pentagon at the invitation of the Secretary of Defense. The pioneering Airmen made their visit Nov. 10. Colonel Baugh flew P-40 Warhawk and P-51 Mustang aircraft, among others, between 1942 and 1947. In all, he flew 135 combat missions during World War II. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. C.
