Brigadier General THOMAS L. "TIM" GIBSON

Brig. Gen. Thomas L. Gibson is Vice Commander, U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey. The U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center is the Air Force's Center of Excellence for advanced expeditionary combat support training and education, while also providing direct oversight for en route and installation support, contingency response, and partner capacity building mission sets within the global mobility enterprise. The Expeditionary Center provides operational control of the the Expeditionary Operations School and administrative control for six wings and two groups within Air Mobility Command. These units include the 87th Air Base Wing and the 621st Contingency Response Wing at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, the 319th Air Base Wing at Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota; the 515th Air Mobility Operations Wing at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii; the 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing at Ramstein AFB, Germany; the 628th Air Base Wing at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina; the 43rd Airlift Group at Pope Field, North Carolina; and the 627th Air Base Group at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

General Gibson received his commission through the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1988. He has served as an instructor pilot for the T-37 Tweet, C-5 Galaxy, TG-7A motorglider and KC-135 Stratotanker. His command assignments include the 621st Air Mobility Operations Squadron at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, the 71st Mission Support Group at Vance Air Force Base, Oklahoma, and the 10th Air Base Wing, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado. General Gibson’s staff assignments include Aide-de-Camp to the Academy Superintendent, Director of the Commander’s Action Group for Air Combat Command and Senior Executive Assistant to the Joint Chiefs of Staff’s logistics director. Prior to his current assignment, he served as Director for Joint Integration, Directorate of Operational Capability Requirements, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Plans and Requirements, Headquarters U.S. Air Force.

General Gibson is a command pilot with more than 2,600 hours in the T-37, T-38, C-5, TG-7 and KC-135.
