WASHINGTON (AFNS) --   Members of the Air Force Enlisted Force Development Panel, chartered to guide future enlisted force development efforts, recently held their inaugural meeting in Arlington, Va. 

At the first meeting, panel members discussed ways to use enlisted professional military education as a tool to deliberately develop enlisted Airmen.
 
This panel, co-chaired by Mr. Joseph McDade, force development director for the deputy chief of staff for manpower and personnel, and Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Rodney J. McKinley, will meet two to three times a year and make recommendations to the Force Management and Development Council on how to best develop enlisted Airmen throughout their careers.
 
"The Enlisted Force Development Panel is a critical advisory body and will ensure the Air Force maintains a balanced force development approach," said Mr. McDade. 

"The establishment of the Enlisted Force Development Panel is a ground-breaking and momentous event for the enlisted force," said Chief McKinley. 

He added that "this panel clearly marks the Air Force's commitment to the development of our enlisted Airmen." 

"Enlisted PME courses are critical building blocks in an Airmen's career," said Chief Master Sgt. Angela Marsh, chief of Air Force enlisted force development.  "Enhancing these courses and ensuring the right people go at the right time is crucial to the development of enlisted leaders, and to the efficient use of limited resources."

Panel members included career field managers and senior enlisted leaders from the Air Staff, Air University, combatant commands, major commands and wing-level.
