Cross country: Air Force men win Aztec Invitational

SAN DIEGO (AFPN) --   Backed by a mere 50 points, the Air Force men's cross country team won the team title at the Aztec Invitational Sept. 15 here. All five of the Falcons' scoring runners finished within the top 15 and the Air Force easily rolled to its second team title of the season.

Junior Sean Houseworth tallied a time of 25:49 to place seventh of 110 total runners, while classmate Joe Curran took eighth in 25:55. Fellow junior Matt Williams rounded out the top 10 with a time of 25:57.

Senior Ian McFarland placed 11th, after crossing the finish line in 26:07 and classmate Josh van Wyngaarden clocked a time of 26:15 to take 14th. The quintet accumulated only 50 points to easily distance itself from the second-place team's 85 points.

On the women's side, Air Force picked up a 10th-place team finish. Sophomore Brittany Morreale timed out at 18:47 to place 24th, while classmate Ally Romanko finished 54th with a time of 19:36.

Senior Kelly Robinson made her season debut with a time of 19:30 to finished 58th, while freshman Katherine Anderson finished on her heels in 19:39 (59th). Sophomore Katie Anderson clocked a time of 20:03 to round out the scoring runners with a 76th-place finish.
