Airman's Roll Call highlights mentorship

  • Published Aug. 22, 2007
SAN ANTONIO (AFPN) --   This week's Airman's Roll Call highlights mentoring to prepare Airmen for increased responsibilities as they progress in their careers.

A mentor is defined as a trusted counselor or guide, according to the new Air Force Professional Development Guide. Mentoring provides a framework to bring about cultural change for professional development of competent future leaders.

Supervisors and commanders need to provide career guidance and counseling to their subordinates because the long-term health of the Air Force depends upon experienced Airmen developing the next group of Airmen.

Airman's Roll Call is designed for supervisors at all levels to help keep Airmen informed on current issues, clear up confusion, dispel rumors and provide additional face-to-face communication.
