9 Academy Falcons named to academic all-conference

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AFPN) --   Nine Air Force Academy hockey players were named to the Atlantic Hockey Association academic all-conference team announced by league officials June 20. 

The Falcons named to the team in Air Force's inaugural season in Atlantic Hockey are listed below: Billy Devoney (Sr, D, Buffalo Grove, Ill.), Matt Fairchild (Fr, F, Ashburn, Va.), Greg Flynn (So, D, Lino Lakes, Minn.), Brian Gineo (Sr, D, South Windsor, Conn.), Mike Phillipich (So, F, Lansing, Mich.), Brian Reese (Sr, F, Brainerd, Minn.), Frank Schiavone (Jr, D, Oceanside, N.Y.), Ben Worker (Sr, G, Thief River Falls, Minn.) and Theo Zacour (Sr, F, Oslo, Norway).

To qualify for the team an individual must post a 3.0 grade point average or higher in all of the academic periods during which his team was actively competing. Atlantic Hockey's Top Scholar Athlete is an award given annually to the player or players who achieves the highest grade point average over the course of the academic semesters of competition.
