LAS VEGAS (AFNEWS) --   Sophomore Nicholas Goc picked up a victory by decision as the Air Force boxing team opened competition at the National Collegiate Boxing Association Western Regional Championships March 29 at Las Vegas.

Due to the draw, Goc was the Falcons' lone competitor in the first round of competition. Competing against a boxer from USC in a 139-pound quarterfinal round, Goc used strong pressure and a flurry of punches to take the judges' decision following the three rounds.

Goc and eight more of his teammates return to the ring March 30 for the regional semifinals.
