Winter storm alerts Texas National Guard
CAMP MABRY, Texas (AFNEWS) --
Governor Rick Perry has alerted the Texas National Guard to assist during the winter storm expected to sweep through Texas the evening of Jan. 14 and last through Jan. 15, according to officials in Austin, Texas.
Two-hundred-and-fifty Guard members and 75 Humvees are standing by to support the Department of Public Safety and local law enforcement in the west central Texas area.
Members are reporting to armories in Fort Worth, Terrell and Abilene, Texas. In total up to nine armories are standing by in Abilene, Dallas, Fort Worth, Waco, Houston, Tyler, Corsicana and Terrell.
