Maj. Jill Metzger arrives home

MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. (AFPN) --   The Air Force officer found alive and in good condition after disappearing in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, arrived at Moody Air Force Base, Ga., Sept. 14 at approximately 6 p.m. EDT on an Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircraft. 

Maj. Jill Metzger was deployed to Manas Air Base as part of an Air Expeditionary Task Force. She was reported missing on Sept. 5, but Kyrgyz law enforcement officials found her Sept. 8. She was subsequently transported to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center near Ramstein Air Base, Germany, for debriefings and medical evaluations. 

"We are elated that Jill is home and we have a team in place to help get her through the final phases of the reintegration process," said Col. Kenn Todorov, 347th Rescue Wing vice commander, during a brief statement after Maj. Metzger's arrival here. "Her health and well being are our primary concern right now as we help on her path to full recovery." 

Major Metzger has said right now she is focused on getting back to normal. She is recovering and looking forward to spending time with her family. She has requested everyone's understanding in respecting her privacy at this time.
