Washington (AFNS) -- Capt. Eric C. Diss, an Air Force Office of Special Investigations special agent, received the William A. Davidson Award during a ceremony Aug. 3, 2017, at the Pentagon.

“It’s an honor to preside over today’s ceremony, where we celebrate one of the very best the Air Force has to offer,” said Wendy Kay, the director of Air Force Security Special Program Oversight and Information Protection.  “This award is especially meaningful, because it highlights the best in innovation, collaboration and results at the field level.”

Established in 2011, the William A. Davidson Award is named in honor of the retired AFOSI Special Agent and former administrative assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force for his leadership, service and dedication to the Air Force. The award recognizes the Airman who has personally and profoundly impacted the Security and Law Enforcement communities through accomplishments that have had a broad impact at the field level, with emphasis on cross-functional and cross-service involvement, innovation and performance results. Davidson and his wife Peg attended the ceremony.

“Whether it’s a criminal activity or nuclear event, they’re (OSI Agents) involved in collecting intelligence or trying to spot what’s going on from the beginning of what we call the continuum of war,” said Davidson. “It’s guys like Eric, the ones on ground, doing that type of work and getting it done. I’m proud to still be part of that community.”

During the ceremony, Diss highlighted some of Davidson’s achievements and commented about living up to the standard the Davidson set during his tenure.
