Troops conduct biannual 'ammo barge' mission in Alaska

The first load of the ammunition containers arrive on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, April 15, 2015. Contracted forklift operators use their skills to unload each container, which weights between 20,000 and 40,000 pounds. After they are offloaded from the trucks, the ammunition inspection team standing by opens the containers and inspects the ammunition before storing them into earth-covered igloos.
