Rex the dog comes to DC
WASHINGTON (AFPN) -- Rep. John Murtha (right) looks on in his Capitol Hill office as Air Force security forces specialist Tech. Sgt. Jamie Dana signs a picture of her and Rex, a retired military working dog, taken during Rex's adoption ceremony. Representative Murtha was instrumental in pushing through legislation which allowed Sergeant Dana to adopt Rex following their recovery from injuries they sustained while deployed to Iraq. Sergeant Dana, who is stationed at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., and Rex were here to attend the State of the Union address. They wanted to thank the lawmakers who made it possible for the two to stay together as a team. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. Jim Varhegyi)
