  • Enduring Lightning III exercise brings together U.S., Israeli air forces

    U.S. Air Forces Central and the Israeli Air Force conducted exercise Enduring Lightning III Oct. 12, in the skies over Israel. It was the third joint exercise between the two countries involving the F-35 Lightning II.
  • Michigan Air National Guard supports California wildfire response

    The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, or Cal Fire, manages fire protection and stewardship of more than 31 million acres of California's privately-owned wildlands. Approximately 12,000 firefighters are on the ground battling the California wildfires. Cal Fire is receiving support from above with the first of its kind domestic MQ-9 Reaper mission.
  • New commander charts AFLCMC future course

    Lt. Gen. Shaun Morris, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center commander has been busy getting up to speed on the latest activities in the center’s vast portfolio. With 28,000 personnel across nine major operating centers, AFLCMC executes a $304 billion operating budget to deliver – from uniforms and ejection seats to aircraft and missiles – everything the warfighter needs to fly, fight and win.

  • “SpeedDealer” demos wrap, new radar agreement expected early 2021

    Using a try-before-you-buy strategy, a team within the Digital Directorate headquartered at Hanscom Air Force Base, completed a series of live-fly demonstrations Sept. 26 to evaluate three commercially available, production-ready and deployable long-range radar systems.
  • Recruiting’s Det. 1 celebrates 2 years of mentoring youth, addressing rated diversity

    AFRS Det. 1 is currently reaching out to thousands of young people – mentoring, educating and giving them opportunities to hopefully one day fly in the Air Force. Det. 1, which was stood up in October 2018, is celebrating two years of helping address rated diversity in the Air Force, and it has experienced monumental growth in this short period of time.
  • AFMC, AFGSC establish Weapons System Lead Wing Collaboration Program

    Gen. Arnold W. Bunch, Jr., AFMC Commander, and Gen. Timothy M. Ray, AFGSC Commander, cosigned a memorandum aimed at developing deeper collaboration between the program offices and operational wings, providing a venue for acquisition and operational Airmen to gain insight into each other’s communities, while creating a culture of continuous cooperation, collaboration and innovation.

  • U-2 Federal Lab achieves flight with Kubernetes

    Kubernetes is an open-source container-orchestration system for automating computer application deployment, scaling, and management. Its container-centric management environment orchestrates computing, networking, and storage on behalf of user workloads and allows for the deployment of complex microservice based applications with complete automation.
  • Air Force deploys commercial IT capability

    Working with the EITaaS office through an Other Transaction Agreement, the Accenture Federal Services team passed commercial internet traffic from the Amazon Web Services and Azure Impact Level 5 cloud environments through the Defense Information Systems Agency’s Boundary Cloud Access Point, or BCAP, and onto the base networks.
