WEBVTT 00:08.619 --> 00:12.039 Whenever evil tries to triumph over . 00:12.050 --> 00:15.899 Good , good , always wins . D 00:15.949 --> 00:18.809 day marks the largest airborne invasion 00:18.819 --> 00:20.840 in World war I , I when airborne 00:20.850 --> 00:23.780 soldiers jumped in to destabilize the 00:23.790 --> 00:26.012 entrenched German forces at that time , 00:26.012 --> 00:28.020 who were launching artillery on the 00:28.030 --> 00:30.239 beaches . Those airborne forces jumped 00:30.250 --> 00:32.700 into the rear area of some over 80 00:32.709 --> 00:34.820 German divisions to break their ranks 00:34.820 --> 00:36.709 so that the fourth I were able to 00:36.709 --> 00:39.220 advance and ultimately liberate France . 00:45.069 --> 00:47.013 We stopped in Fayetteville , North 00:47.013 --> 00:49.180 Carolina to pick up some soldiers from 00:49.180 --> 00:51.291 the 82nd airborne Division on the way 00:51.291 --> 00:53.513 out here . But we were able to fly them 00:53.513 --> 00:55.736 across the Atlantic . So they're on the 00:55.736 --> 00:55.549 ground representing the army . We're 00:55.560 --> 00:57.782 here representing the Air Force back in 00:57.782 --> 01:00.004 World War Two , we were all part of the 01:00.004 --> 01:02.171 same service . So it's cool to be able 01:02.171 --> 01:02.169 to work with them . Get to know the 01:02.180 --> 01:04.291 locals and building the relationships 01:04.291 --> 01:07.379 between the US and France again . But 01:07.389 --> 01:09.556 it was an absolute pleasure to be able 01:09.556 --> 01:11.860 to remember and honor those who 80 01:11.870 --> 01:14.150 years ago dropped out of the skies . 01:14.160 --> 01:16.220 And by being able to honor that by 01:16.230 --> 01:18.940 doing that again , today was incredible . 01:20.440 --> 01:23.050 So beyond honor to get to see some of 01:23.059 --> 01:24.837 the greats from that generation 01:24.837 --> 01:27.059 standing up there today , still holding 01:27.059 --> 01:29.115 those same values that I value as an 01:29.115 --> 01:30.503 American and an airman . 01:34.599 --> 01:36.655 We are here to welcome a group of us 01:36.655 --> 01:38.821 veterans just arriving from the US for 01:38.821 --> 01:40.932 the 80th anniversary of the landing . 01:40.932 --> 01:42.766 And we are here to say thank you 01:42.766 --> 01:44.988 because when they were young men , they 01:44.988 --> 01:47.155 came to Free France and to free Europe 01:47.155 --> 01:49.377 and we are very grateful for that . The 01:49.377 --> 01:51.589 smiles the kids' faces have by just 01:51.599 --> 01:54.209 giving them a patch . The amount of 01:54.220 --> 01:56.164 love that these people have for us 01:56.164 --> 01:58.330 being here is really special and it's 01:58.339 --> 02:00.006 just so much fun to be here . 02:03.239 --> 02:05.406 The other thing that's important about 02:05.406 --> 02:07.572 remembering D Day is the unity that we 02:07.572 --> 02:09.461 have with our allies and partners 02:09.461 --> 02:11.628 throughout the world . A lot of people 02:11.628 --> 02:13.850 forget , but that alliance goes all the 02:13.850 --> 02:16.017 way back to the Revolutionary War when 02:16.017 --> 02:18.239 the French naval forces came to the aid 02:18.239 --> 02:20.350 of General George Washington . And so 02:20.350 --> 02:22.589 coming forward to D Day in World War 02:22.600 --> 02:24.767 Two , this is something that we should 02:24.767 --> 02:28.229 pass down to our Children . We 02:28.240 --> 02:30.949 celebrate the heroism . We celebrate 02:30.960 --> 02:34.289 the courage of a bunch of young men and 02:34.300 --> 02:36.630 women that stepped into the world of 02:36.639 --> 02:39.309 the unknown to bring safety and 02:39.320 --> 02:41.542 security to our entire globe . We hoped 02:41.542 --> 02:43.709 that in some ways , it can be a living 02:43.709 --> 02:46.610 example of what they gave back to us in 02:46.619 --> 02:47.910 so many incredible ways .
