TRICARE extends referral waiver to Sept. 30 for North Carolina and South Carolina patients affected by Hurricane Florence

To continue assisting TRICARE patients in North Carolina and South Carolina in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, the Defense Health Agency has extended until Sept. 30 its provider referral waivers. TRICARE patients in these states may continue to see providers in any location without a referral from their primary care provider until Sept. 30.
As a reminder, all TRICARE beneficiaries not on active duty can receive urgent care from any TRICARE-authorized urgent care center or provider without a referral.
To receive emergency prescription refills through Sept. 20, beneficiaries should take their prescription bottle to any TRICARE retail network pharmacy. If possible, visit the pharmacy where it was filled. For a retail chain, patients can fill the prescription at another store in that chain. If a provider is available, he or she may call in a new prescription to any network pharmacy.
