BRIGADIER GENERAL EDWARD J. HOPKINS Brigadier General Edward J. Hopkins was born in Benton, Ark., in 1910. He graduated from Ouachita College, Arkadelphia, Ark., in 1932, where he majored in business administration. Prior to being called to active duty in 1941, he was district representative for the General Motors Acceptance Corp. in Arkansas. During World War II he served in a number of executive positions in the United States, and with combat units in Italy, France, England and Germany. After World War II he was assigned in the comptroller's office, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, and in 1949 was selected to attend the Advanced Management Course at Harvard University. In 1951 he was named comptroller for atomic bomb test task forces in the Pacific. He then returned to Washington and held various management posts until his assignment to London in 1952 as comptroller of the Third Air Force. Prior to becoming commander of the Air Force Accounting and Finance Center, on Sept. 1, 1957, he was director of accounting for the Air Materiel Command, with headquarters at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, 0hio. At Dayton his position called for directing accounting activities involving contracts and payments for more than $10 billion in Air Force materiel annually. His promotion to his present rank of brigadier general came Nov. 20, 1958. On Aug. 1, 1960, General Hopkins became comptroller, Headquarters AMC, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, now the Air Force Logistics Command. (Current as of November 1964)
