STEPHEN HERRERA

Stephen Herrera, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Executive Director for Headquarters Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), Hurlburt Field, Fla.  Mr. Herrera assists the AFSOC commander as the senior civilian focal point for ensuring all force development, combat capabilities, and resourcing allocations are effectively synchronized and integrated to meet warfighter requirements.  He plans, develops, and implements mechanisms to validate current and future requirements; leveraging science and technology in support of equipment modernization and training transformation initiatives.

A native of San Antonio, Texas, Mr. Herrera began his career with the Air Force as a Palace Acquire intern upon graduation from the University of Texas at San Antonio.  He has held progressively more responsible positions in the areas of budget formulation and execution, program integration and resource management. His experience spans several appropriations and functional areas.  Mr. Herrera has previously served as the Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary for Financial Operations, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force, Financial Management and Comptroller, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.
