CMSAF: Yesterday's, today's heroes

The following is a message from Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force Gerald R. Murray:

“In small towns and large cities across our nation, Americans will gather Nov. 11 to remember those patriots who have given their lives to protect our treasured freedom.

“Our living veterans bear the wounds of battle and remember fondly the comrades they’ve lost. Those heroes leave us with a legacy of courage and dedication, and our nation must never forget their sacrifice.

“Today, our own airmen, fellow Marines, soldiers, sailors and Coastguardsmen feel the heat of battle and the pain of loss as fellow warriors continue to give the ultimate sacrifice in operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, and other battlefields around the globe. War is no longer something we look to past generations to remember, it is branded on our own souls as we continue to fight the war on terrorism. One needs to look no further than a neighbor, co-worker of friend to find a hero.

“This Veteran’s Day, as we honor those brave men and women who carried the torch of freedom before us, let us also remember our military members and their families today, who are making deep sacrifices to carve a safer, more stable world for our children and the generations to come.”
