The NBC News program “Dateline NBC” features Alaska Air National Guard's pararescuemen accomplishing a high-altitude mountain rescue. The show is scheduled to air July 27.

The story is about the 210th Rescue Squadron’s mission in 1998 that saved six travelers after their airplane crashed onto a glacier on Mount Torbert in Alaska.

Pararescuemen and their aircrew made the mountain-top rescue of the survivors who were trapped inside the airplane.

Their mission eventually garnered the crew the National Aeronautic Association's McKay Trophy for outstanding aerial achievement. (Courtesy of Alaska Department of Military and Veterans Affairs)
